Another Look at the Pioneer Anomaly

چکیده
The unexpected frequency shift observed by the Pioneer team, usually described as an anomalous acceleration, is discussed from the perspective of two alternative assumptions on the origin of cosmological redshift (Hubble effect). One is the standard assumption of an “expanding space”, the other is the assumption of an energy loss of photons without expanding space sections (“downscaling photons”). We find that the Pioneer frequency shift is an anomaly from the point of view of the expanding space hypothesis only. If one assumes a downscaling photon hypothesis for the Hubble effect, the anomaly dissolves and can be identified with a direct manifestation of the Hubble law inside

Less Mundane Explanation of Pioneer Anomaly from Q-Relativity
There have been various explanations of Pioneer blueshift anomaly in the past few years; nonetheless no explanation has been offered from the viewpoint of Q-relativity physics. In the present paper it is argued that Pioneer anomalous blueshift may be caused by Pioneer spacecraft experiencing angular shift induced by similar Qrelativity effect which may also affect Jupiter satellites. By taking ...

Experimental tests of gravity performed in the solar system show a good agreement with general relativity. The latter is however challenged by the Pioneer anomaly which might be pointing at some modification of gravity law at ranges of the order of the size of the solar system. We introduce a metric extension of general relativity which, while preserving the equivalence principle, modifies the ...
متن کاملA Route to Understanding of the Pioneer Anomaly
The Pioneer 10 and 11 spacecraft yielded the most precise navigation in deep space to date. However, while at heliocentric distance of ∼ 20–70 AU, the accuracies of their orbit reconstructions were limited by a small, anomalous, Doppler frequency drift. This drift can be interpreted as a sunward constant acceleration of aP = (8.74± 1.33) × 10−8 cm/s which is now commonly known as the Pioneer an...
متن کاملPioneer anomaly: What can we learn from LISA?
The Doppler tracking data from two deep-space spacecraft, Pioneer 10 and 11, show an anomalous blueshift, which has been dubbed the “Pioneer anomaly”. The effect is most commonly interpreted as a real deceleration of the spacecraft — an interpretation that faces serious challenges from planetary ephemerides. The Pioneer anomaly could as well indicate an unknown effect on the radio signal itself...

It is shown that a wave vector representing a light pulse in an adia-batically evolving expanding space should develop, after a round trip (back and forth to the emitter) a geometric phase for helicity states at a given fixed position coordinate of this expanding space. In a section of the Hopf fibration of the Pioncaré sphere S 2 that identifies a projection to the physically allowed states, th...
